Interesting Facts About Drinking Water

The body is about 60% water, give or take.

We’re constantly losing water from our bodies, primarily via urine and sweat.

There are many different opinions on how much water we should be drinking every day.

The health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon.

This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember.

However, there are other health gurus who think we’re always on the brink of dehydration and that we need to sip on water constantly throughout the day… even when we’re not thirsty.

As with most things, this depends on the individual and there are many factors (both internal and external) that ultimately affect our need for water.

I’d like to take a look at some of the studies on water intake and how it affects the function of the body and brain, then explain how to easily match water intake to individual needs.

Can More Water Increase Energy Levels and Improve Brain Function?

Many people claim that if we don’t stay hydrated throughout the day, our energy levels and brain function can start to suffer.

There are actually plenty of studies to support this.

In one study in women, a fluid loss of 1.36% after exercise did impair both mood and concentration, while increasing the frequency of headaches (1).

There are other studies showing that mild dehydration (1-3% of body weight) caused by exercise or heat can negatively affect many other aspects of brain function (2, 3, 4).

However, keep in mind that just 1% of body weight is actually a fairly significant amount. This happens primarily when you’re sweating a lot, such as during exercise or high heat.

Mild dehydration can also negatively affect physical performance, leading to reduced endurance (5, 6, 7).

Bottom Line: Mild dehydration caused by exercise or heat can have negative effects on both physical and mental performance.

Does More Water Help Prevent Health Problems?

There are several health problems that may respond well to increased water intake:

  • Constipation: Increasing water intake can help with constipation, which is a very common problem (13, 14, 15).
  • Cancer: There are some studies showing that those who drink more water have a lower risk of bladder and colorectal cancer, although other studies find no effect (16, 17, 18, 19).
  • Kidney stones: Increased water intake appears to decrease the risk of kidney stones (20, 21).
  • Acne and skin hydration: There are a lot of anecdotal reports on the internet about water helping to hydrate the skin and reducing acne, but I didn’t find any studies to confirm or refute this.

Bottom Line: Drinking more water may help with several health problems, such as constipation and kidney stones.

drinking eight glasses of water a day ensures proper skin hydration—myth or reality?

Hoax or Fact:

Mixture of hoax and facts.

The message claims that drinking 4 glasses of water on empty stomach every morning before brushing your teeth cures you wide variety of diseases. It is a fact that drinking water early morning on empty stomach keeps your body clean, hydrated and healthy, but that alone does not treat all diseases as mentioned in the message.

Like mentioned in the message, we did not find any evidence of Japanese scientific research that supports this magical claim. Diabetes, Cancer and TB are deadly diseases that cannot be cured easily by the latest medical technologies available, saying that water alone can treat all that is an exaggerated hoax.

One part of the message says that drinking cold water after taking meals and oily stuff leads to cancer. This is again a hoax. Human body is adaptable to temperature changes and the digestive juices are strong enough to digest oily food. There is a probability that the oils may turn and stay as fats, but that turning into cancer is a certain hoax.

While the mild symptoms of heart attack mentioned in the message are facts, which can easily be mistaken for indigestion problems, heart attacks are same in both men and women. There have been many such false claims that drinking water can help in many other ways like avoiding stroke or heart attack. If that were true, all the heart disease foundations would have advised the same. The only fact in the above message is that drinking excess water early in the morning aids constipation, but that too only to a certain extent.

Therefore, the message claiming drinking water on empty stomach cures all kinds of diseases is a certain hoax. Drinking excess water has no magical effect on health.

Our Stomach is very thin polythene cover like organ. Stomach secretes lot and lot of Nitric acid and Hydrochloric acid. These two acids play a key role towards food fermentation and digestion. Our Body system digests the food only through fermentation process. There is no mixi and grinder used for digestion.  All we know that, any acid kept in contact with the flesh and muscles harms us. Whereas in Stomach, these two acids are separated by the stuff called mucous gel from the stomach to protect it from external forces. When we take more water in the empty stomach it dilutes these two acids, and in turn converts to toxins which become useless for digestion. It can also disturb the mucous gel due to which it leads to ulcer and acidity.
There is a fluid which will be secreted for lubrication benefits to transfer food from stomach to Large and Small Intestines finally to the Bowl and Anus. Therefore the fluid also will be diluted when we take more water especially in the early morning.
Drinking water in the empty stomach dilutes all the valuable acids and chemical compositions and Moreover it deactivates the fermentation process in the stomach which leads to indigestion. Further it can be a pathway for fourty two (42) types of diseases to get infected..
Another interesting fact would be that when you consume water in the very early morning, it can lead to decline in the complexion of a person or skin tone etc…
There are three organs such as Liver, Small Intestine and Heart which functions with the help of Temperature (Fire energy). When we sleep in the night normally our body temperature will be normal. Consuming more water reduces the temperature and it cools around each of these organs, but that causes Posterior Cerebellum disorder/Heart Failure. Further it can show various disorders like aggressive behavior, mental disorder as well as psychosomatic disorders.
